Standardized Beauty

Digital Illustration

39 cm × 32 cm

2026

Contemporary appearance anxiety is shaped by narrow beauty standards reinforced through social media. This work uses trees trimmed into identical human profiles as a metaphor for how individuals are standardized by dominant ideals of beauty.

The acts of cutting, coloring, and decorating echo cosmetic enhancement and appearance modification. The work reflects on a gaze that not only observes but also defines, raising questions about individuality and authenticity.
